Hayden Panettiere has admitted that it upsets her when she is judged by those who don’t know her. The Heroes star is aware that being in the public eye means you will receive some negativity – but wishes people wouldn’t judge her based on the roles she plays – or what has been written in the press.

“People think they know me because they see me on TV or in movies – but the public don’t really know me,” Hayden told teen mag Shout.

“I’ve learned that no matter what you do, someone is always going to have a problem with it,” the ‘I Love You, Beth Cooper’ actress adds. “At the end of the day, the only person you can please is yourself.”

“I don’t like the idea that someone can see me on screen and say ‘Oh, I don’t like her.’ You don’t know that. You’ve never hung out with me and you’ve never had a conversation with me, so you don’t know that you don’t like me!”

And asked about the constant gossip surrounding her, Panettiere insists: “They’re all rumors. Don’t believe any of it. None of it is true.”

Hayden Panettiere is Company Magazine’s September 2009 cover girl. In this interview the 19-year-old opens up about her love life, her thoughts about on the paparazzi, how she feels about all the rumors written about her, how she stays in tip-top-shape, and her friendship with Paris Hilton.

The petite star blames the public and the media for the failure of her relationships.

“It’s very, very difficult and people have no idea what they do to peoples’ relationships. They destroy them. The paparazzi and the public. The public wants to read about your personal life, and the paparazzi give it to them by nosing into your personal life and saying things that are just not true and horrible.”

So how does she cope with the gossip?

“It depends on what it is. Sometimes things come up that need to be dealt with or damage-controlled, but if they don’t then I stick my fingers in my ears and go ‘lalalala’-I don’t care.

Does Hayden enjoy working out?

“Staying in shape is part of my job, but I’m not always the best at being diligent about working out. I try not to let it grab hold of my life.”

How does she stay grounded?

“Well, for one thing, it’s like having a bunch of big brothers on the set [of Heroes]. I am the butt of every joke in that place-I’m constantly being made fun of and having my ego smashed by them! But really it’s just the people that are around me-my family and really close friends. You become very guarded, but it also makes those people close to you so much more valuable.”

Following in the footsteps of other recent cover girls Katy Perry and Emma Watson, “Heroes” hottie Hayden Panettiere is appearing on the August 2009 issue of Seventeen magazine.

In the issue, Hayden shares everything from heartbreak to her feelings towards our favorite vampire, Robert Pattison. Hayden shared some inside info about her first heartbreak when she told Seventeen, “My instinct when I go through heartbreak or a bad situation is to talk about it. To just talk and talk and talk about it. But that’s me, that’s not everybody. A lot of people, you know, their instinct isn’t to talk about it. Their instinct is to bury it and to distract themselves from it.”

In the midst of posing for the cameras, Hayden had time to speak about her fame and how she is able to distinguish between her fans loving the character’s that she plays, and really appreciating her as an actor. She said, “People fall so in love with characters in books or characters in movies, like ‘Twilight,’ you know? Girls are so in love with Robert Pattinson, because he played the part. They’re in the love with him as that character.”

In the magazine, Hayden looks gorgeous while posing wearing a purple dress, funky shirt and a bright yellow flowing top. As far as what Hayden has in store for the future she said, “I love my job. Does that mean that’s the only thing I want to do all the time? No. There are a lot of other things I would love to do, and I will hopefully be able to do them when I have the time.”

Randy Newman sang that short people had no reason to live. With amusing lyrics of “tiny little hands,” and itty bitty shoes on their “nasty little feet,” Newman’s song “Short People” lampooned all prejudice.

“Heroes” star Hayden Panettiere is really short, barely cracking 5 feet, and has given Lucky magazine some tips for fellow vertically challenged girls to make the most of their small package.

On the cover of Lucky magazine for this August, the 19-year-old actress is mastering the art of dressing for her height while still pulling off a pulled together look.

She tells Lucky: “There are all these little tricks that make such a difference,” she says. “Like being conscious of when a shoe cuts me off at the ankle so it doesn’t shorten my legs.”
